Frequently Asked Questions

    GENERAL

  1. DOES IT TEST?
This question is usually asked about various products used in competition or races. The answer is NO. Nothing manufactured and sold by FINISH LINE® will test positive in any race or show jurisdiction in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, South America, England or Saudi Arabia. Do not use the U.S. Version of Air Power™ in Japan; instead use the Air Power™ made for the Japanese market.
  2. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Visit individual products pages for pricing.
  3. ARE FINISH LINE PRODUCTS GUARANTEED?
Yes. Fully guaranteed to meet your every expectation of what a quality product should be. FEED SUPPLEMENTS

  1. Will my horse eat it?
This question is asked about  feed supplements all the time. After all, if a horse won't eat the supplement, what good are it's benefits. FINISH LINE® has researched this aspect of supplementation for many years. They are the first company to introduce the apple flavored electrolyte, over 20 years ago (See the Apple-A-Day™ page). In fact, they have included this unique apple taste in most of their powdered supplements. Iron Power™ and Fluid Action HA have even more of their appealing apple flavor in their formulas to stimulate your horse's appetite. (See our Iron Power™  and Fluid Action HA™ pages to learn more about these feed supplements.) While all horses are different, Finish Line can say with great satisfaction: "The most common initial comment that we hear on these products is 'My horse just loves it!'"

  2. What is  Fluid Action HA™
Fluid Action HA™ is a high glucosamine liquid nutraceutical product formulated to lubricate the cartilage and synovial fluid in your horses' joints.
Fluid Action HA™ lubricates joints to show you a younger active horse again. Glucosamine increases the amount of synovial fluid. HA (or Sodium Hyaluronate) increases the viscosity and viscoelastic properties, to make a better cushion. It is an extremely effective joint supplement. Finish Line® extensively researched and developed this product for three years. Everyone is extremely pleased with their final formulation and its great benefits. But it’s all about what works best for you and your horse. That's why Finish Line offer's Fluid Action HA™ in either liquid or powder forms.

  3. Why doesn't Fluid Action HA™ contain Chondroitin Sulfate?
The latest research shows that chondroitin sulfate is too large a molecule to be absorbed effectively. With molecular weights up to 30 thousand, chondroitin molecules are as much as 300 times larger than glucosamine. If any chondroitin does get absorbed into the intestinal tract, it is now considered by many researchers to be too large to migrate into the chondrocyte cell, which is where cartilage generation takes place. Since both chondroitin and glucosamine are expensive ingredients, FINISH LINE® decided to concentrate on glucosamine, which is up to 98% absorbable. Their goal is to produce a product that is effective and affordable. That's the result with Fluid Action HA™ Joint Supplement.

  4. My current product offers results in 5 days, guaranteed. So why does it take 10 days for Fluid Action HA™ to work?
Your current product probably is using a discomfort killer to give you the quick action. Fluid Action HA™ does NOT mask discomfort with discomfort killers. While glucosamine starts to work within 20 minutes after ingestion, it takes time to regenerate worn joints. No product can rebuild the joints that fast (within 5 days). They are covering up the symptoms and you are paying for those ingredients, too. Fluid Action HA™ WORKS ON THE CAUSE, RATHER THAN THE SYMPTOMS. It may take a bit longer for you to see the real results: You'll see a difference in the way your horse moves, the way he trains and hits the ground. You are getting real results in 10 days - 100% Guaranteed. Your horse will feel better in the long run and will be less likely to suffer serious injury and damage to its joints.

  5. How can Iron Power™ give my horse more energy and be good for nervous horses, too? Don't these goals contradict each other?
Not really. Iron Power™ gives your horse more energy and stamina due to the increased blood cell counts. This, in turn, gives the horse a greater ability to carry oxygen to its muscles. Iron Power™ is great for nervous horses because of the high level of B-Complex vitamins - 3 times as much as most other competing products.
  6. How does Iron Power™ compare to Red Cell™ and Red Glo™?
Follow this link to a comparison chart.
  7. How should I feed Iron Power™ ,Fluid Action® and Fluid Action HA™?
These supplements should be top-dressed on your horses' favorite feed. Follow feeding amounts on label. Some people give the product with an oral syringe, but this is rarely necessary.
  8. Why does Apple-A-Day™ cost more?
Usually, it doesn't. Most other electrolytes have sugar in them. Other manufacturers put sugar in their product so that the horse will eat it. Finish Line's unique apple flavor means that they do not have to add sugar because your horse will eat Apple-A-Day™ without all those fillers. Once they put sugar in their product, it fluffs it up and they recommend you feed 2 ounces a day of theirs. Apple-A-Day™ has a daily dose of only one (1) ounce per day. In fact, there are more electrolytes in just one ounce of Apple-A-Day™ than in two ounces of Stress-Dex™, for example. (The Dex stands for dextrose, a sugar.). Click here for a product comparison.
  9. Why is Ultra Fire™ so expensive?
Same answer, only now you feed just ½ ounce daily. Without all the fillers that most other vitamins contain, Ultra Fire™just looks expensive because it comes in a smaller container. If you compare how much it costs PER DAY instead of per ounce, you see that Ultra Fire™only costs about 40 cents per day. Click here for Ultra Fire™.

  10. Which should I feed my horse: Iron Power™  or Ultra Fire™?
If you prefer a liquid multivitamin, then use Iron Power™ If you are looking to add a powder to your existing feed, then use Ultra Fire™.  Both vitamin feed supplements are rated highly and provide high-potency Vitamin B to build Blood Counts high.  They both help nervous horses and stimulate appetite. Ultra Fire™ is a more complete vitamin/mineral supplement. Iron Power™ is a more palatable iron/B-Complex vitamin. DO NOT FEED BOTH SUPPLEMENTS TOGETHER.

  11. What is the 'more' in KC & More™?

MISCELLANEOUS PRODUCTS:

  1. Should I dilute Air Power™?
No. Air Power™ is made to work most effectively full strength, as is.

Brigham Young University tested Air Power and had this to say: "This product offered the symptomatic relief we were searching for. When horses were heard coughing they were given a dose of Air Power and invariably would stop coughing and were able to finish the working day. Usually one administration was all that was required."

  2. Should I give Air Power™ in the feed?
Some people do, yet Air Power™ is designed to be given by oral syringe and applied down the horse's throat.

  3. How does JC'S Tie Up™ work?
That is a very good question. Tying up can occur from a wide variety of causes and no one really knows the whole story on this yet. As for JC'S X-Tie Up™, this product was discovered over 50 years ago by the third generation of horsemen in the Howe family - John C. Howe. Hence the "JC's". While we cannot tell you how it works on a molecular level, we do have sufficient anecdotal evidence to guarantee the product's performance. If you ever purchase JC'S X-Tie Up™ and it fails to perform, we will refund your purchase price directly, no matter where you bought it. Click here for JC'S X-Tie Up™.

  4. Why are Finish Line poultices called clay?
About 1992, the FDA was considering reclassifying poultices as a drug. FINISH LINE® did not want to have this reclassification nor have to manufacture these products as drugs, since the increased costs associated with this would have raised the selling price exorbitantly thus forcing them to stop making it. As it turned out, the FDA did not go forward with this idea of reclassification, however the changed name "Clay" on their labels stayed. Click here for Kool-Out™  and Original Premium Clay™.
